Green Grass

Gather to learn about Birds, Bees, & Butterflies-Bemidji's ‘Slow the Mow’ initiative. We'll discuss how you can register as a participant of Slow the Mow, and what you can do year-round in your yard to help our native ecosystems.

Date: Friday, May 17th
Time: 4pm–5pm
Location: Bemidji Public Library, 509 America Ave NW, Bemidji

Understanding Carbon Markets

Learn about carbon markets and what “net zero” emissions claims mean. We’ll put into perspective how true emissions reductions compare to an offsetting approach and clear the confusion about how to use one of our most powerful tools available to the general public: purchasing power.

Date: Monday, May 20th
Time: 4pm–5pm
Location: Bemidji Public Library Meeting Room, 509 America Ave NW, Bemidji

Biochar

Join us for a Biochar Burn demonstration at Izaak Walton wetlands. Biochar is charcoal produced by heating organic material in a high-temp, low-oxygen environment. Biochar can be used as a soil amendment and to remove pollutants from impaired waters. Our friends at Clear Water Nitrate Reduction will manage the burn.

Date: Tuesday, May 21st
Time: 1:00pm
Location: Izaak Walton Wetlands—south side of Salem Road, 1 mile west of Mayowood Rd.

Environmental Film Club

Join Conservation Minnesota’s Environmental Film Club to talk about climate
change and how media can be used to examine our feelings toward our environment. View each film on your own a week before the meetings. Sign up for one or all.
