07/29/2010 -
I like to think of myself as one who takes good care of herself through conscious eating choices, regular exercise and a good sleeping regimen. I also consider myself one who is environmentally conscious by practicing the “reduce, reuse, recycle” motto whenever possible. Basically, I pride myself on the way I take care of not only my body but mother earth. But until a few days ago, I was still blindly ingesting chemicals that were polluting my body and the earth.

07/15/2010 - I’ve mentioned a few times here my desire to reduce the amount of chemicals in our house.  I started looking into less toxic alternatives when I began hearing about alternative options.  People were sharing with me products and techniques that worked for them.  I have two very small children so learning about ways to reduce our household chemicals appeals to me.

Last Saturday, I finally decided to dive in and make my own laundry detergent.  I’ve used homemade detergent that my friends have given me to try, and it got our clothes clean (even better than the detergent my husband insists on using).

01/26/2010 - Regular contributor Kristin Eggerling writes today of the daily impact of reducing our household exposure to a common compound that may pose significant health impacts.

It seems that everywhere you turn these days Bisphenol A (BPA) is in the news.

Last year I attended a conference where I first learned about BPAs and the health concerns surrounding them. I knew that people were trading in their plastic bottles for ones made out of metal but I hadn’t made the effort to learn enough about BPAs to motivate me to limit my family’s exposure to it.

11/12/2009 - It seems that Thanksgiving is coming all too fast this year.  Maybe I think that because I recently found out that my husband has volunteered our house to host his family this year.

There are lots of things to consider when you have 16 people, including kids, to plan for.
