Minnesota Stories:
I was 40 years old when my son’s Boy Scout troop took me canoeing. Many memories have been made along the way, but I’ll never forget when I learned that balance is helpful when stepping into the canoe.
Canoeing has taught me many lessons. I now know that oars float. I learned that you should wear good shoes – flip-flops tend to fall off during difficult portages. And finally, I will always remember that there is nothing more peaceful than gliding across a Minnesota lake at sunrise.
As I have gotten older, my love of the outdoors has expanded. I also enjoy getting lost while hiking in the woods, taking my chances on “Death Tube” on Upper Hay Lake, and biking with Minnesota’s second state bird – The Mosquito!
I can’t wait to share these experiences with my grandchildren.
